Dear RISCC Members,
Alteris Renewables and Clements Market in Portsmouth need your support at a very difficult use variance hearing on January 21, 2010 at 2200 East Main Rd, Portsmouth RI. The town zoning laws do not allow wind power systems to be built near the town center unless the land is useless. The turbine only requires 64 square feet of space and will have no adverse effects on surrounding landowners. Clements Market pays taxes on this land and is desperately trying to lessen their carbon footprint, as well as set a stong example for other businesses in the area.
Please join us to support Clements Market for their efforts to green the grocery industry in Rhode Island. Many others could follow in their footsteps. We would greatly appreciate it if a few students would bring brief testimonials about how this project affects you as a generation and as a small-state community.
Thanks, in advance, for your support.
Warmly,
Hannah Morini
