Hope you're excited about Providence's SECOND Energy Efficiency Barn-Raising happening this Sunday, January 17th from 11am til 4pm at two homes in Olneyville: 433 Union Avenue and 59 Kinfield Street. Please plan to come to 433 Union Avenue first and we will direct volunteers to the other house as needed. (433 Union Avenue is located right at the corner of Laurel Hill Ave and Union Ave--it is a beautiful old sprawling Victorian house--you can't miss it!)
We have over 30 people who have already RSVPed for volunteering at the barn-raising, and we have a group of fantastic team leaders who will be leading small teams of volunteers to complete a variety of weatherization tasks--see the list below. Thanks to the Home Energy Efficiency Team (HEET) from Cambridge, MA--who have been doing barn-raisings for over a year and a half and are helping Providence launch our own! Also thanks to Wayne Ferri at RISE Engineering who conducted the initial audit of the two houses and will be volunteering his time on Sunday.
A couple things for you all:
First, we'll be celebrating a job well done with a home-cooked potluck meal! You are hereby encouraged to make the most delicious food possible to bring and share with your fellow volunteers.
Second, please review the list of tools we'll need for the barn-raising below and let me know if you can provide any of the ones listed. All other materials will be provided.
Third, just because it's Sunday doesn't mean you should wear your Sunday best! Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty--really dirty--especially those of you going into the attic.
And last but not least, a special thanks to Cristina Cabrera and Raul and Carmen Villarreal--the tenants/homeowners and our hosts--for allowing us to create a little chaos in their homes!
Thanks everyone, and let me know if you have any questions
Amelia
