Hello all,

It has been a long time since a post here at RIAC. We haven't
forgotten about you.

Just an update. I have been keeping track of where the job market is
right now for archaeologists in the USA (and of course for myself here
in the UK), do not despair! For those of you recent grads who are
willing to travel keep your eyes on:

The month of July seems to be on fire for jobs throughout the US. Of
course these jobs are highly competitive as there are lots of others
looking for work. Be smart and make up a smashing CV that outlines
your prior experiences. Remember that an effective cover letter
detailing why you want the job (be clever, not simply "I would this
job because I think I am an awesome archaeolomogist") and how you can
apply yourself. There are also some great guides on CV's and
submitting an application at the same website under the "resumes" tab.

Do not get bogged down by the fact that these jobs are not in RI or
Mass. Unfortunately, the life of a shovelbum is one of mobility and
nomadism. While this means time away from home, realize that working
on various projects in different regions expose you to different
complex archaeological scenarios and a wide range of artifacts. This
will only make you stronger.

I hope all is well for everyone this summer.

Best Wishes and GOOD LUCK!

-Zach
