MESSAGE FROM SCOTT SHARP:

Runnymeade Residents,

Tomorrow (Monday October 3rd) begins our community wide paving project. This is going to be a very challenging disruption to our usual routines. Every car in the community will have a flyer placed on it with important schedule information.

  • American Disposal will pick up trash/recycling early for the next two weeks. They must complete it by 8 am. They will not pick up on streets during milling and paving days.
  • Fairfax County Public Schools has modified their pick up drop off locations and should have informed parents last week (see attached for specific information).

Parking and access to our homes will be equal challenges during the next two weeks. All cars need to be moved on time to allow the contractor to begin on schedule and stay on schedule. Delays will prolong the project and increase our cost. Many residents have asked if they can “drive around” the equipment. The 12 ton milling machine and the 20 ton dump trucks that will be working with it are not maneuverable and the attendant bobcats will not be looking for cars. You will put yourself and the workers at risk if try to “drive around” the equipment. Please don’t.

Additional parking has been arranged for Crown Royal Drive, signs indicate where VDOT has temporarily permitted parking. If you have a mobility issue and need help getting from Crown Royal Drive to a place closer to your house contact JCA. Several residents have volunteered to help those that need help.

You must refrain from parking any vehicle on any street scheduled for work until after 8:00 pm on the scheduled date or 6:30 am the next morning after paving and painting. You will be responsible for any damage done if you park your vehicle too early.

The restrictions on parking in fire lanes and the school bus turn around have not changed.

This project will be very challenging but I know we can work together to ease the burden of paving our community.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

Scott
