We have been asked to distribute the following message from Fairfax County Animal Control:
"Animal Control has been trying to trap a hound dog in your neighborhood for the past few weeks. You may have received an e-mail asking you not to feed or attempt to catch this dog.
Animal Control has been trying to set a regular feeding station in one specific location to get the dog comfortable with coming by to this area to await feeding. This will help with the trapping of the dog before winter weather comes on.
At this time, the feeding station has not been set because residents are still feeding the dog in other areas as well as trying to catch him. If the dog has different areas where he is being fed, he will not stay at the feeding location, thus hindering the attempt at trapping him.
Each day that goes by, the weather worsens and the likelihood of this dog suffering from effects of the cold or leaving the area increases.
We understand everyone wants to help this dog but we are asking you NOT to feed him at all or try to catch him. Please help Animal Control Officers save this dog's life by abstaining from feeding him.
Our goal is to catch him and to find him a permanent, loving home, where he can live indoors with his forever family. Thank you so much for helping us save this dog."
