WHAT'S NEW:

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT  --  Runnymeade's celebration for National Night Out is next week, Tuesday, August 4!  It is our best attended annual event.  Like last year, we will have Glow Sticks for all kids, cupcake decorating, beginning tennis tips, and the Second Annual Runnymeade Water Balloon Toss!  We also anticipate visits from our local Franconia-based Fairfax County Police and Fire Departments, as well as a representative from Management at Premium Lawn and Landscape, our grounds contractor.  Once again it will be held from 6 pm to 9 pm on the School Bus/Tot Lot Turnaround on High Meadow Road.  All Runnymeade residents of all ages are invited and welcome.  We ask that participants let us know in advance how many people (adults and children) will be coming from their house and what they can contribute (finger food, water, ice, soft drinks, etc.).  We also need people to lend us their outdoor folding tables, ice chests, and lawn chairs.  Volunteers will be organizing all games and other activities.  Please use the attached form or contact Brian Kirby, Activities and Events Chair and the coordinator for this event, at bkirb...@gmail.com.
RUNNYMEADE'S FIRST WALKING TOWN MEETING -- Our Lee District, Fairfax County Supervisor, Jeff McKay, is coming to meet with us on Thursday, August 6, at 6:30 pm, when he will walk our streets with us, hear our concerns, and answer our questions about County and State issues, problems, resources, and services.   We will first meet at the tennis courts parking lot near the entrance to our community on Crown Royal Drive. The route we will cover is as follows:
  • Crown Royal Circle
  • High Meadow Road
  • Langton Drive, then High Meadow Road
  • Heatherwood Drive, then High Meadow Road
  • Knights Ridge Way
  • Castletown Way
Subject matters we have advised the Supervisor's staff that we intend to discuss include:  Parking CRISIS; High Meadow Road (state road) CRISIS; Zoning violations; Erosion (we are including Drainage and Water issues).  Everyone is welcome, but if you can't make it and would like the Board to address your issues and/or concerns with Supervisor McKay, or if you have questions, please contact RHOA President, Pat Mahoney at p-ail...@msn.com

RUNNYMEADE'S ANNUAL MEETING -- The Annual Meeting of the Members of the Runnymeade Homeowners Association (RHOA) was held on June 25, 2015.  At the meeting, Carrie Arceneaux of Heatherwood Drive was elected to the Board, and Pat Mahoney was re-elected. They both will serve three year terms through the Annual Meeting in June 2018.  Special thanks and appreciation to Eric Vicks, who served on the Board since June 2012 and has now retired from the Board.

RUNNYMEADE'S Officers for 2015-16 -- Officers of the RHOA were elected at the July 22 Board Meeting.  They are:  President, Pat Mahoney; Vice President, Scott Sharp; Treasurer, Mary Ann Dougherty; and Secretary, Tim Wood.

NEW ACC MEMBERS:  The Board has appointed Lesley Sobeck (Knights Ridge Way) and Teri Ryan (High Meadow Rd) to Runnymeade's Architectural Control Committee (ACC).  They join Eric Vicks (Chair), Natasha Ofosu, Justin Korber, and Tim Wood on the committee.  If you would like to reach all ACC members at once, using only one, easy-to-remember email address, send your email to rhoa...@googlegroups.com and it will go directly to all members of the ACC without you having to look up their names and email addresses.

RUNNYMEADE'S ROOFS --  Most of Runnymeade's roofs were replaced more than 20 years ago and may need replacing now.  The issue came up in the Annual Meeting, and we are looking to see if we can negotiate with a roofing company to arrive at a reduced rate for all Runnymeade homes, similar to what the Board in 1991-92 did that resulted in about 270 Runnymeade homes getting their roofs replaced at a reduced rate at that time.  Brian Kirby, bkirb...@gmail.com, has volunteered to contact roofing contractors and lead this effort.  If you have suggestions, including contractors that you can recommend, please contact Brian.
