Delegates from over 250 companies explored how wind energy can strengthen energy security, support economic growth, and power the region's rapidly growing demand for electricity.
The Summit saw the launch of Vietnam's Offshore Wind Accelerator, GWEC’s Global Offshore Wind Report 2026 and a Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) roundtable on regional cooperation. With strong participation from governments and industry leaders across Vietnam, the Philippines, South Korea, Japan, India and beyond. The event underscored the growing momentum behind wind energy as a driver of energy security, economic growth and regional collaboration in Asia-Pacific.
The Summit boasted a plethora of specialist sessions covering floating offshore wind, offshore wind surveys, grid integration, ESG standards, marine spatial planning, health and safety, supply chain development, workforce skills, battery storage, and Vietnam's offshore wind acceleration pathway.

🔹 GWEC Brings Industry and Government Together in Hanoi
GWEC convened a high-level engagement with 50 delegates across 30 companies in the wind industry to meet senior Vietnamese government officials, including: H.E. Nguyễn Hồng Diên, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of Viet Nam H.E. Phạm Gia Túc, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister of Viet Nam Mr. Nguyễn Quốc Toản, Director General of the Viet Nam Agency of Seas and Islands, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment
There were also representatives from key ministries and agencies. Discussions focused on creating the policy, regulatory and investment frameworks needed to unlock onshore and offshore wind development at scale. |

🔹 Vietnam-UK Government-GWEC Offshore Wind Accelerator Announced
A major milestone of the Summit was the launch of Vietnam's Offshore Wind Accelerator in collaboration with VM Long, the UK in Viet Nam, and our sister organisation Ocean Energy Pathway designed to help translate Vietnam's offshore wind ambitions into bankable projects through technical assistance, capacity building, and knowledge sharing from mature offshore wind markets.

| | | 🔹 PTSC Field Trip Showcased Vietnam's Growing Offshore Wind Capabilities
As part of the APAC Wind Energy Summit 2026, delegates were given the opportunity to visit PTSC's Centre of Energy and Technical Solutions in Ho Chi Minh City, gaining first-hand insight into Vietnam's rapidly developing offshore wind supply chain.

The visit highlighted the company's extensive fabrication capabilities for offshore wind foundations and offshore substations, specialised port infrastructure designed to support offshore wind logistics, installation, operations and maintenance, and Vietnam's growing role as a regional hub for offshore wind development.
🔹 Momentum Builds for GWEC's Wind Sustainability Initiative
Through a multi-stakeholder process involving industry, finance, and civil society, the initiative advanced efforts to streamline sustainability assessments, expand the pipeline of bankable projects, and enable the faster, more responsible deployment of wind energy globally.
The discussion generated strong engagement from participants, who had the opportunity to learn more about the initiative, share perspectives, and explore opportunities for future collaboration.
🔹 Regional Cooperation for Offshore Wind
The Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) hosted its fourth APAC roundtable, bringing together governments, industry and financial institutions to explore how regional collaboration can accelerate offshore wind deployment through shared learning, stronger supply chains and coordinated policy frameworks.

After a day of insightful discussions and industry updates, the conversation continued in an informal setting with fellow delegates, industry leaders, policymakers, and partners from across the region.

The publication prompted a substantial amount of coverage from global, national and trade media attention exploring at the future outlook of the sector after several challenging years.
