In my opinion it is impossible to exaggerate the perilousness of the human condition. If Hansen is right, that we are at a tipping point, beyond which global warming will be beyond control and will reach extremes that may make much of the planet uninhabitable, then we WILL have a holocaust for the entire human race and acceleration of the mass species extinction already under way.
