1. safeguard: it prevents you from accidentally doing a import from a
vault when you've modified the original project (i.e. not the one in
the vault). without this safeguard, it was possible that you'd lose
all your changes to your project that way.
2. another safeguard: before overwriting files, the prev version gets
moved to the trash
3. vault export can now adopt the folder hierarchy from the project
(thanks to Mike Woodworth)

next i plan to work on better support for rb 5.x project files, e.g.
by removing the editor related tags (cursor position etc) from the
project items, so that a simple change of window size or cursor
movement does not cause the version control to trigger updates.
