Description
Hi everyone,
I have been working on an Android app called QuantumBlock. It is designed to help reduce screen time by blocking distracting apps and websites. I started building this because I was frustrated with existing blockers that either require an account, track your data, or are too easy to bypass.
A note on the branding:
During the early stages of development, the project was focused on impulse-buying and was named "ShopNot." As the project grew, I rebranded it to QuantumBlock to cover all types of digital distractions. Because of this, the technical package name in the Play Store is still com.shopnot, even though the app is now QuantumBlock.
Key features:
Privacy-First: No accounts, no ads, and no cloud storage. All rules and data stay locally on your device.
Unbreakable Mode: Once activated, the block cannot be lifted until the timer expires, even if you restart your phone.
Smart Modes: It includes a Delay Mode, which forces you to wait a specific amount of time before an app opens, giving you a moment to rethink the impulse.
Schedules: You can set specific times for work or study where distractions are automatically blocked.
Why I am posting here:
Google recently changed their rules for new developers. I am required to have 20 testers for 14 consecutive days before I can release the app to the public. I am looking for people from this community who actually struggle with phone addiction to provide some real feedback.
How to join the test:
To comply with Google’s testing system, you need to join a Google Group first to get access to the download.
Join the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/quantumblock---tester-and-feedback/
Accept the testing invite (Web): https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.shopnot
Download on the Play Store (Android): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shopnot
If you decide to help out, I would appreciate any feedback you have regarding the interface or the effectiveness of the blocking modes. I am a solo developer and am happy to answer any questions you have about the app or its privacy features.
