I thought, i received a new roster last weekend.  So, called Zafri and did our routine round on 1st August (malam Ahad). Turn out it is an outdated roster. 1st August 10 is actually 1st May 2010.

About this latest incident, no wonder when we were on duty last Sat Night, there were also Police patrol car with flashing light and we were stop by them..

Hopefully, En Salim will not give up.... maybe a momentary lapsed of frustration.. we can understand.. However, there is still few of us who is doing the round..... but the group is getting smaller though.. will keep on supporting this community duty if it is on again. Never mind about those who did not turn up during their turn..maybe someday they will..

Sad..

Thank you for the comment Tun, appreciate it.

I do not want to comment on the "creativity" or "what other peole around us did".  I just want to point out few salient points....

1.  Jalan SP 8/12 = Banglo Lot.  They have 24 hours security and gated (which also means the resident movement and behavior are well known to the "security" personnel).

2. Remember the situation when we have 24 hours security in 2003?

3.  I have my reservation on "security" personnel background and value especially those young ones.  That is why each year when we are away on Hari Raya, we insist that the person heading our guards must be PTzen.  So, he have great stake.  Also, guarding our area when we are all away would not show our pattern of behavior.

4. The house was broken into at 0430 hrs this time. Note our focus time is 0100 - 0500 hrs. Also note that there was zero (0) night time break in PT when were were active.  The night break in at Jalan 3/3 where the lady of the house was tied occured when we decide to drop what were were doing for a while.

5. Have anyone talked to those "innovative neighborhood" and hear their problems? Informally I did.  Their financial issues and "problematic" residence does not bother me at all.  You bound to have these regardless you do something or do nothing.  Surely I am not rich but RM50 or even Rm100 a month just means a cut in one KFC or Pizza seating which I can do away.  I can afford that.  But, above all, getting unknown parties to witness our pattern of behavior (the time you go out, come home, who live in the house, your lifestyle etc ....) I have strong reservation.  We are better off without them.

6.  I strongly agree on your idea of closing Melati's gate and open new one for them.  Agree = willing to chip in RM if needed.

Best Regards,
SALIM

NOTE on the far side: Paul the Octopus, never ventured out of his aquarium, were hated for making a stand even though he got no choice but to make a stand (for need the only food inside his aquarium stached in two boxes).  Abdullah Badawi were hated because he made wobbly stands.  :-)))

Tan Sri Salim, u had done much for the community. I personally felt indebted to your courage and willingness in all your efforts.

Its too bad that it end up this way, probably its time to reflect on the so called collective decision over the issue. Does collective means the majority ? It seemed not in our case.Perhaps, it will serve as a bitter lesson to those who failed to perceive and appreciate the majority view. The majority rules. Those day, if we have good product, it sells on its own but now, even if we have proved it,still many are reluctant to buy. Its really challengging...... that is where the law of persuasion, politeness, exemplary behaviors are so much needed these day.

Look around us, what our neigbouring area are doing. They put on chains at the entry point, they put on Guards (putra impian), they put on fences at the backyard(except for jalan 3/5) and even they put on security suggestion to BH. But what have  we done? ehrrrm....none other than lamenting on the people who are reluctant/ unable to serve the night patrol for reason best known to them.

Let us now, do the counting and budgeting, how much money we need to put up the backyard fences, how much money we need to put the gate at all main entrances which is closed at 12pm everynight. Try to suggest to BH to open a second entrance to the Melati Apartmen while we close the current one at 12 pm. Be creative and innovative like our neighbours. Not all like it but majority rules. To the club Pengerusi and his AJKs, its time to act, stop lamenting.....cheer it up.

Routine e-mail about house being broken into.  This one is a bit sickening but I know it makes no difference to most of us.  It was because it did not happened to us.

2.  Our duty roster has ended and I am NOT about to make new one. Sorry, this time I think I finally succumbed by frustration.  The gate tag to remind us only last one day.  By day two it were all gone.  More sickening it was done by people I knew.  The duty roster are mostly ended up in the bin.  My effort probably was seen as an individual effort / initiative whereas it was made because of our "forgotten" collective decision.  I will see how things developed.  In the mean time be prepared for more e-mail like this.  Expect police also do their routine stuff i.e. dusting for the useless finger prints and taking more of pictures that will remain in the pile of files and sit there uselessly.

3.  Perhaps, security issue is somebody else's business. However, it really does not seem to be BH's business nor police business. Maybe it's reporter's business.

4.  Sleepless nights of 2003 is coming back. Just watch our own backs I guess.

Best Regards,

SALIM
