Printing Tutorial

I haven't been successful in printing to ITAP printers, and I'm wondering if there's a guide or a tutorial anywhere?

I tried printing too, but failed. Used several different methods, the one which worked best was using CUPS (google it, it's a network printing solution). I managed to detect all live printers on purdue's network, set up the ones I need, and send a print-job to it. Only the last step doesn't work, the print-job doesn't show up at the printing terminal. I guess it has got to do with how they handle the requests, rather than a problem on my end. So I gave up.

You should look up CUPS though and please reply if you get it working.

Also, I couldn't set up Dtella on my linux machine. Got stuck at the port forwarding part. Used iptables and what not, but to no avail. All the guides out there teach how to set up the router to do that, but I don't use a router, I connect my LAN cable directly into the RJ-45 port on the wall.

I haven't tried printing to the itap machines, but I noticed there was an entry for it on the PLUG wiki here: http://purduelug.org/wiki/index.php/Itap_printers. Have you guys tried that?

I can print using CUPS and Samba. I just use the web config and go to Add Printer -> Samba via Windows.

Then you just set smb://user:pa...@printers.ics.purdue.edu/itap-printing
