Hey Richard,
Pub Camp is much larger than GPB. It's a national movement and we're holding one of 10 around the country. Here are some basics from the
PubCamp 101 site...
http://publicmediacamp.pbworks.com/PubCamp-101
Pub Camps are not outcome oriented, they are innovation and open format oriented. Create a blank canvas.
The 10 basic rules:
1) it's all about strengthened public media through ongoing collaboration with the public.
2) There is no audience, only participants.
3) All presentations/sessions are on the record.
4) Any materials must be CC.
5) Check in must happen
6) If you lead a session you must speak up during intros
7) Law of Two Feet
8) Encourage team building and work doing
9) Post notes to wiki or blog
10) Soft-boiled rule.

This message was scanned by the GPB Brightmail Scanner and is believed to be
clean.
What are:
4) Any materials must be CC.
7) Law of Two Feet
10) Soft-boiled rule.
Also - I'd be happy to facilitate a conversation on using crowdsourcing in
journalism, if anyone's interested...

- Any materials must be Creative Commons. In other words, anyone can use the information we gather.
- Law of two feet allows you to walk out of a session if you don't get anything out of it. No hurt feelings.
- Soft-boiled rule means don't talk longer than it takes to make a soft-boiled egg. Usually 3 minutes.
And I'd love to attend a session on crowdsourcing. I've seen how well you do it on your facebook.

I don't find a handy linked explanation, but isn't that basically KISS
(Keep It Simple, Stupid). No system should take longer than three
minutes (a soft-boiled egg) to understand?
This is shaping up to be quite a lot of fun. Thanks for hosting, Susanna!

Calm down. We are simply trying to have a discussion prior to the start of the "unconference."
Have you tried sending a message with UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject line?

PLEASE TAKE MY ADDRESS OFF ANY OF YOUR SENDS--THIS IS A RESTRICTED ADDRESS
AND HAS BEEN ABUSED BY GOOGLE GROUP.
WHAT IS ALL THIS RAFT OF CHIT-CHAT?
Until I attend your "camp" at GPB and see first-hand what you are trying to do, I do NOT want these unsolicited e-mails on my restricted address. This is terrible!!!!

I know you don't want to get any more emails, but I feel compelled to
explain what's going on. It's clear you do not understand how this process
works. I feel your pain, as this is my first PubMedia Camp as well.
PubMedia Camps like the one at GPB on August 14th are based on the concept
of "UN-conferences". Unlike a normal journalism conference where there is a
pre-determined agenda featuring keynote speakers, panel discussions, and
other activities, an "UN-conference" is planned and presented by the people
who sign up to attend the conference. So basically, you and everyone else
who's registered determines ahead of time (through this email chain that's
driving you crazy) what we'll talk about on the 14th, who can facilitate
what conversations, etc. That's why it's important we have this conversation
-- to determine what everyone's interested in learning/talking about.
There are many full-time working professional journalists, including myself,
in this email conversation. I hope you'll join us in the discussion so we
can get an idea of what YOU want of the "un-conference". If you don't want
to do that, however, you can unsubscribe from these emails using the tips
provided by another registrant in an earlier email.
Take care,
Tanya

How did you get this e-mail address?
Who are these people overloading my business site with chit-chat?
I am a professional journalist (with a paying job) and I find that by
accepting an invitation through Atlanta Press Club for the GPB "camp"
session at their headquarters in Atlanta that I have opened a Pandora box of
all sorts of strange statements and questions.
Please refrain from using my address unless your message applies directly to
the Aug. 14 "camp" at GPB. (Otherwise, your address goes into SPAM.)
