I am a student working part time in a computer lab. We've been having a
problem with the print queue and I was wondering if anyone can help.
Here goes:
There are about 60 computers in the lab all networked to 1 printer (HP
LaserJet 4350dtn). When a student sends a print job, it is
automatically paused. At the printer desk, a lab tech takes payment for
the job and then releases the print in the queue. The problem is, for a
number of computers (perhaps 10 or so) the number of pages is not
showing up in the queue. All the other information is there (document
name, status, owner, size and submitted) but the pages is blank.
Does anyone have any idea why this happens and what can be done to
resolve it? This is urgent because it is from the number of pages in
the queue that we determine how much the student has to pay. We now
have to be counting the number of pages once printed.
Someone please help!
We would all need some more information from you.
What OS runs the print server? What OS are the workstations sending
the print jobs? Is the print queue a commercial software (specifically
for situations where you are charging per page)?
Include as much information as you can. :)
