Canon S400 "Serice error"

I have a Canon S400 printer. The power light is flashing alternately
green and organge (one flash of orange). According to the manual this
is a "service error" and I should contact Canon.

Any ideas what I can do about this without the need to contact Canon
please? I think I've checked the obvious things - ink, cables, power
on/off, etc..

Not knowing the exact error you are getting, you can try this:

Seems most of the errors I see involving blinking lights have
something to do with the waste ink tray being full.
