For those of us in NYC:

The beginning of a great effort in this city is beginning tonight, and wanted to pass the opportunity along.  

Some here are already involved, but for those of you not familiar, Doctors for America is an amazing/inspiring group that has already done amazing large-scale things in this country (like help get the ACA passed in 2010)--and the next vital/big challenge is Enrollment: the challenge of getting the 30 million newly eligible Americans to actually enroll in the health insurance, and many millions of them are right here in our city. 

Today is my first day of residency orientation, but I will try to make it to this opening event in Manhattan afterwards--please come join if you can, I promise it will be inspiring to get involved with this group of people and you won't regret it.  And even if you can't make it this time, please email Manisha Sharma MD, Doctors for America <in...@drsforamerica.org> if you'd like to stay tuned and get involved later.

Thanks to your hard work, the Affordable Care Act became the law of the land in 2010. This year, 30 million more Americans will gain health insurance coverage. It’s no exaggeration to say your advocacy is saving lives.

But our work is not over. This summer, it’s vital to get people ready to enroll.

On June 19th, DFA-NY will be co-hosting with our community partners a kickoff event for “Get Covered New York.” The goal? Launching a city-wide campaign to make sure every uninsured person in every neighborhood knows about new insurance options starting October 1.

Plans are already underway – volunteers are lining up to help canvass at street fairs and dozens of other summer events. You don’t want to miss out on this historic moment to enroll hundreds of thousands of people in the benefits you worked so hard to pass.
