Pakistan RTI Quiz Contest 2024 announced for public awareness

ISLAMABAD (September 22, 2024): The Pakistan Information Commission, in order to raise public awareness for promoting the culture of good-governance, accountability and transparency, has joined hands with the Press Network of Pakistan to organize a nationwide Pakistan RTI Quiz Contest 2024. The online quiz contest consists of 10 questions related to the Right of Access to Information Act, 2017, whereas each question is required to be answered within 30 seconds. The last date for participating in the quiz is 25th September, 2024, and the announcement of winners is scheduled on the International Day for Universal Access to Information 2024, to be marked on 28th September, 2024.

Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, Chief Information Commissioner, termed the Right of Access to Information Act, 2017, a landmark legislation that not only empowers citizens of Pakistan to access information held by public authorities but also has revolutionized the way citizens interact with the government. “By exercising their fundamental Right to Information, Pakistani citizens can demonstrate their commitment to foster a much more informed, engaged, and prosperous society,” the Chief Information Commissioner expressed, while urging Pakistan nationals, especially university students, media persons and youngsters, to actively participate in the contest.

“Informed citizens play a pivotal role in ensuring good-governance, contributing to policy-making and participating in decision-making processes in an efficient and effective way,” Sabahuddin Qazi, Chief Executive, Press Network of Pakistan, stated while elaborating the aims and objectives of organizing the RTI quiz initiative. Lauding the several landmark decisions by the Pakistan Information Commission in accordance with the Right of Access to the Information Act, 2017, he emphasized that vigorous exercise of RTI laws proves a vital component of civic-centric governance, transparency, and human rights protection around the world.

The RTI Quiz Contest 2024 has been jointly organized by the Pakistan Information Commission and the Press Network of Pakistan as part of the ambitious awareness campaign to tackle the challenge of limited awareness and lack of knowledge about RTI laws among the general public. The winners of the quiz contest will be announced on the International Day for Universal Access to Information 2024, to be held on 28th September, 2024. اسلام آباد (22ستمبر 2024ء): پاکستان انفارمیشن کمیشن نےپریس نیٹ ورک آف پاکستان کے اشتراک سےایک دلچسپ آن لائن کوئز مقابلے کے انعقاد کا اعلان کیاہے جسکا مقصد سرکاری معلومات کے حصول کیلئے عوام میں شعور اجاگر کرنا ہے، پاکستان آر ٹی آئی کوئز کونٹسٹ  2024 کے عنوان سے معلوماتی کوئز مقابلہ رائٹ آف ایکسس ٹو انفارمیشن ایکٹ 2017سے متعلق دس سوالات پر مشتمل ہے ، ہر سوال کا جواب تیس سیکنڈ میں دینا لازمی ہے، پاکستان آر ٹی آئی کوئز مقابلے میں حصہ لینے کی آخری تاریخ 25ستمبر مقرر کی گئی ہے جبکہ کوئز جیتنے والے فاتحین کا اعلان معلومات تک رسائی کے عالمی دن کے موقع پر کیا جائے گا جو ہر سا ل پاکستان سمیت دنیا بھر میں اٹھائیس ستمبر کو منایا جاتا ہے۔ اس حوالے سے چیف انفارمیشن کمشنر شعیب احمد صدیقی کا کہنا ہے کہ معلومات تک رسائی کا قانون2017 پاکستان کے شہریوں کو سرکاری حکام کے پاس موجود معلومات تک رسائی کا اختیاردیتا ہے ، مذکورہ قانون کا موثراندازمیں استعمال پاکستان کو ایک جدید ، باخبر اور خوشحال ملک کے طور پرڈھالنے میں معاون ثابت ہوسکتا ہے، انہوں نے پاکستانی شہریوں بالخصوص یونیورسٹی اسٹوڈنٹس، میڈیا پرسنز اور نوجوانوں پر زور دیا کہ وہ معلومات تک رسائی کیلئے اپنے بنیادی حق کا استعمال یقینی بنائیں۔ پریس نیٹ ورک آف پاکستان کے سربراہ صباح الدین قاضی نے آن لائن کوئز مقابلے کے اغراض و مقاصد بیان کرتے ہوئے پاکستان انفارمیشن کمیشن کے متعدد اہم فیصلوں کا حوالہ دیا، انہوں نے اس امر پر زور دیا کہ آر ٹی آئی قوانین کا بھرپور استعمال گُڈ گورننس، شفافیت، اور انسانی حقوق کے تحفظ کا ایک اہم جز ہے۔ پاکستان آر ٹی آئی کوئز مقابلہ کا انعقاد پاکستان انفارمیشن کمیشن اور پریس نیٹ ورک آف پاکستان کی جانب سے معلومات تک رسائی کے قانون سے متعلق عوامی سطح پر آگاہی اور شعور بیدارکرنے کی ایک مشترکہ کاوش ہے۔ کوئز مقابلے کے فاتحین کا اعلان معلومات تک رسائی کے عالمی دن  (28ستمبر2024)کے موقع پر کیا جائے گا۔ کوئز تک اس لنک کے ذریعے رسائی حاصل کی جا سکتی ہے:
