John,
Be careful.
This not so much system thinking as story telling with new kinds of graphics.
Real system thinking involves not only explication of ideas but also inspection of models for a) logic, arithmetic and semantic faults and b) investigation of results for dynamic and integrity limits, the latter including fallibility tests.

Hi Jack –

         > Be careful.

Up to your ol’ mischief I see.

It’s clear you did not even have the experience of Beyond Connecting the Dots (BCD).

The suggestion is that you actual read the book before making ridiculous claims.

Question: Is Insight Maker http://insightmaker.com/ the systems thinking and dynamics platform employed by Beyond Connecting the Dots also “story telling with new kinds of graphics?” C’mon.

After 30-years of systems thinking and dynamics modeling in diverse settings, I know it when I see AND can describe it.

If you actually look inside BCD you will find fully functional system models that allow:

a) logic, arithmetic and semantic faults and

b) investigation of results for dynamic and integrity limits, the latter including fallibility tests.

Suggestion is you re-visit Beyond Connecting the Dots and Insight Maker then get back to us with some legitimate comments.

Also suggest you test-drive some of the fully-functional models in BCD so that you may personally conduct:  “…inspection of models for a) logic, arithmetic and semantic faults and b) investigation of results for dynamic and integrity limits, the latter including fallibility tests.”
