Well, this is supposed to be one of our busiest ministry times of the year – children’s clubs, open air, witnessing, the town fair, in addition to the normal stuff that goes on all year. It is one of our favorite times of the year for that reason. BUT for over a week now I (Scott) have had some kind of a flu that has wiped me out totally. It pretty much wiped out a very full slate of ministry activities last week, and while I am doing better this week (the fever seems to be gone and some of the dreadful tiredness) the hacking cough and sore throat remain – and my voice comes and goes at best (and dissolves into a prolonged fit of coughing at worst).
Now missing a week of ministry to the flu in January would be, if not welcomed, tolerated. But missing a week of ministry at the peak ministry season is very discouraging. I hate missing ministry opportunities. I have a great lesson prepared for the “Bible Stories in the Park” this week. Would you pray that I would be able to recover to the point where the cough (and my throat and voice) will let me do this lesson? Tomorrow is looking the better day weather-wise – but Thursday should be possible too – as long as I can get better enough to do it.
Thanks for your prayers!
His Servant,
Scott MacLean
