Hi All,
Last weekend was full of fun and joy.
We had a new volunteer joining Prarambh.

Below are the activities performed by different volunteers, last
weekend.
Saturday: Dec 05, 2009
[LEVEL 1]
[Ankit]:
[Shraddha, Payal]: I taught them alphabets. As Shraddha knows
alphabets in upper and lower case I asked her to write it again just a
part of revision I exercise. Payal on the other hand knows alphabets
in upper case only. I taught her letters a, b and c in lower case.

[LEVEL 2]
[Ashish]:
[Mangesh]: I taught him sounds of words till alphabet M. My lesson was
divided into four parts: 1. Introduction to the topic (concept of the
script and sound attached with it. 2. Telling him the sound of all
alphabets by a two way discussion. 3. Assessing by asking to tell the
first alphabet by asking any random word. 4. Asked him to prepare a
chart for future reference.
[Dev]:
[Sudhir, Azhar and Nilesh]: We worked on adjectives. What is its
purpose, how it is used, and few examples. We wrote 5 sentences each
using Adjectives.
[Shakeb]:
[Prateeksha, Shweta, Prashant]: I dictated paragraph to them and made
them write, then made them write 5 times spellings of those words
where they made mistake or dint know the word.

[LEVEL 3]
[Payoshni]:
[Rahil, Azim & Ganesh]: I taught Rahil, Azim and Ganesh. I gave them
random words of which they had to form sentences. Gave them words like
Cow, milk, morning and they came up with sentences. We did 6-7 such
sentences, after which they were bored, so I engaged the three of them
by asking them to give 'Self Introductions'. The kids enjoyed it and
were competing with each other on who gives better introductions :).

[LEVEL 4]
[Kranti]:
[Pooja, Kajal & Aishwarya]: I gave the kids a couple of lengthy words
from which they made smaller words. Later they read a passage each
from a Grammar book.

Sunday: Dec 06, 2009
[Payoshni]:
I conducted random interviews of some Kids and Volunteers for the
website content.

[LEVEL 1]
[Ashiwini]:
[Shraddha & Payal]: I taught Shraddha and Payal English. Since
Shraddha knows the alphabets in upper and lower case, I made her
revise them once. Payal knows only upper case alphabets. I made her
revise them and then taught her lower case alphabets [a to f]. Later,
I taught both girls some since words per alphabet ex. A – Apple, B-
Ball, for alphabets from A to H. While teaching the new words, I
didn’t ask them to write any word. Instead, I made them draw pictures
for words of each alphabet, taught them the pronunciation and the
meaning of the word in Marathi.

[LEVEL 2]
[Dev]:
[Sudhir, Azhar, Nilesh]: Revised adjectives. Played game Name/Place/
Thing/Animal-fruit.
[Shakeb]:
[Prateeksha, Shweta & Ram Prakash]: I gave them big words and asked
them to make words out of the alphabets of given word.

[LEVEL 3]
[Ankit]:
[Rahil, Ganesh, Azim & Amit]: We read "The story of wheel" from the
English book. I asked each of them to read one paragraph each and
explained the meaning of it. There were few difficult words which kids
did not understand. I asked them to write the words in their notebook
and explained the meaning. The kids enjoyed the session and were
enthusiastic on knowing how man discovered the Wheel.

[LEVEL 4]
[Kranti]:
[Pooja, Kajal & Aishwarya]: I took some exercises from the Grammar
book based on opposites, verb conjugation, definite and indefinite
articles, tenses etc. I showed them a few pictures and asked them to
describe the picture in English.
