Hi All,
Last weekend was full of fun and joy.
Below are the activities performed by different volunteers, last
weekend.
New Face at Prarambh:
This time we had Kushaagra as our new volunteer.
[Kushaagra]: He is currently working with Infosys and came to know
about Prarambh from Chacika.
In his own words: -”I had just visited Prarambh as a visitor but I
felt really nice. The exuberant and the vibrant kids out there were
just like a thin beam of sunlight on a dark murky day. The joy to see
a kid learn and grasp what you have just taught is out of the world
“.

[LEVEL 2]
• [Kushaagra]:
[Sudhir]: I taught Sudhir basic Arithmetic which included Division and
Multiplication which he did correctly, I then taught him basic use of
decimals in Multiplication and Division. Initially it was a bit
difficult for him to grasp the concept but then I taught him the same
using day to day examples and giving word problems. I found that the
kid is quite intelligent and can grasp concepts properly when taught
in a proper manner. I then taught him English, the usage of Vowels in
basic sound of each word. I even asked him to write 10 words having
sounds of each vowel which he did but with quite a bit of help.
• [Dev]:
[Mangesh Chhorge]: We learned use of prepositions ‘in’ and ‘on’. We
made many sentences using these and wrote on notebook. Tried to use
more of English in my interactions with Mangesh.
• [Nibhatish]:
[Nikita, Nikita Kamble and Muskaan (L2)]: I taught them English. We
revised pronunciations and spellings for different shapes like square,
Circle etc. and also for different transport mediums. Nikita Kamble
was doing much better. Nikita did not remember different vehicles she
had learnt last time. Muskaan was able to start the word with correct
letters but not the complete spellings.
[LEVEL 3]
• [Ramya]:
[Azhar]: I revised vowels and consonants. I taught him Common and
Proper nouns and made him locate the nouns in sentences. I taught him
Gender. He then wanted to do some colouring and drawing, so I let him
do that.
[LEVEL 4]
• [Chacika]:
[Aishwarya, Deeksha and Pooja]: They brought an English question paper
which was distributed to them in the school to get it solved as
homework. It included Comprehension of a passage and poem, and various
questions based on it, including grammar ones. I asked them to read
and translate the passage and the poem as well and helped them to
solve the questions.

[LEVEL 2]
• [Dev]:
[Ganesh (L3), Azhar and Mangesh Chhorge]: We wrote 5 sentences on
different topics. E.g. me, my school, cricket, busy road etc. Then,
Azhar and I read magazine story. This was following by game of chess
with Azhar. Tried to use more of English in my interactions with kids.
[LEVEL 3]
• [Ankit]:
[Sangeeta, Mamta and Madhuri]: I first gave them few topics like road,
my family etc to write min 5 sentences. All of them had few
difficulties in forming the sentences on which I helped. Later on I
taught them the concept of unitary method (If two pencils cost 6 Rs,
What will be the cost of 10 pencils?). The girls grasped the concept
very quickly and solved few problems with some help. They were very
interested that to my surprise they asked for homework .
• [Kranti]:
[Sumitra]: As Ankit had given each of the girls a topic to write 5
sentences on; I helped the girls with it. Later Sumitra and I read a
story from “Magic Pot”. We also solved the puzzles from the book.
