Hi All,
The last weekend was full of fun and joy.
Saturday: July 11, 2009
[LEVEL 1]
• [Dev]
[Shubham]: Started off with lower case alphabets. Worked on a, b, c,
d, e, f, g, h, t
[LEVEL 2]
• [Payoshni]
[Prateeksha, Nikita & Shweta]: I taught Prateeksha, Nikita & Shweta on
Means of Transportation. I first asked them to brainstorm and come up
with all the modes of transport they have seen or come across then
classify them on the basis of where they ply and then took out the
chart and explained each means of transport and what it is called in
English / Hindi & Marathi. Then I took a small memory test to see how
many could they remember of what learnt.
[LEVEL 3]
• [Ankita]
[Muskaan/Priyanka/Mangesh/Mangesh Chhorge]: I revised with them three
lettered words with A, I and O. I made them write and spell the words.
Muskaan has finally understood the sounds of the vowels and can now
recognize the sound of the vowel in a small 3 lettered word so she can
revise a little more and start with E and U. Priyanka is still
struggling hard and needs to work on these vowels more. I made her
spell more words and then read words from the books of sounds. She is
getting to understand it, though slowly. She needs to work harder.
• [Kranti]
[Ganesh, Rahil]: I revised verb conjugations with Ganesh and Rahil. I
gave them a few sentences where they had to fill the verb with the
correct conjugation. Rahil got most of the sentences correct, since we
have been practicing conjugations for the last 2 weekends. Ganesh took
a little more time to understand the concept, but picked it up later.
They also solved a puzzle, where they had to unscramble the word with
the help of a clue given in the bracket.
[LEVEL 4]
• [Ashish]:
[Kajal, Aishwarya, Anita, and Pooja]: I asked them to identify the
sound of alphabets and they seem to be quiet overconfident with that
so took a dictation test for them picking up words from their
curriculum in which none of them could score even 10% marks. Hence
told them the importance of sounds.
• [Ankit]:
[Madhuri]: I took an evaluation test for gauging her level. She is
suitable for Level 3
Sunday: July 12, 2009
[LEVEL 1]
• [Prakhar]:
[Shubham]: I taught him small alphabets from h to z.
• [Hetuk Patel]:
[Khushi]: I taught her small letters from a to f.
[Sunil]: I taught him small alphabets from a to m
[Babu]: I taught him small alphabets from a to d
• [Ati Pahadiya]:
[Shubham]: I taught him small & capital alphabets from A to Z.
• [Dev]:
[Shubham]: Progressed with lower case alphabets. Worked on I, j, k, l,
m, n.
[LEVEL 2]
• [Dev]:
[Sonali,Shraddha]: Taught use of phonetic a and e.
• [Kranti]:
[Ganesh, Azhar, Priyanka, Nikita, Muskaan, Sudhir]: The kids wrote
tables from 2-12. Later I asked them to memorize the tables and took a
test. After this, I gave them addition and subtraction problems, which
they did in a jiffy. They weren’t too confident with division, so I
taught them the logic and gave them a few problems to practice.
• [Ramya]:
[Dhananjay, Mangesh Kasbe, Kavita, and Mukta]: I gave all a test on
multiplication tables 8 to 10. I gave them sums on addition and
subtraction. I taught Mangesh, Kavita and Mukta borrow- from
subtraction. Dhananjay was good with the sums. We need to work on
Mangesh. We need to set his orientation towards studies right. Kavita
and Mukta are good.
[LEVEL 3]
• [Dev]:
[Ganesh]: Taught use of present-continuous verb formation. Made him
write 10 sets of sentences for different present continuous actions
for “I”, “you” and “they”.
• [Ramya]:
[Madhuri]: She could do with multiplication tables from 8 to 13. I
gave her a test on that. I taught her the 14th table, gave her a few
sums on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division (involving
3 digits max). She didn’t play any games and preferred the company of
a picture book instead. I ran her through birds, animals, furniture,
modes of transport, etc. She could read all and she grasped new words,
really well. She was brilliant, to say the least . It’s upon us to
keep her occupied.
[LEVEL 4]
• [Ankit]:
[Anita, Yasir, Aishwarya, Kajal, Sweta, Diksha, and Prateeksha]: I
taught them time conversion i.e. converting minutes to seconds, hours
to minutes and minutes to seconds. I gave them few problems like 9
hrs, 44 min 5 seconds in which the results was expected in seconds.
The kids had some problem in solving which I corrected.
