Hi All,

Last weekend was full of fun and joy.
We had a new volunteer joining Prarambh.

New Faces at Prarambh:

This time we had a new volunteer .

[Kirti Joshi]: She is working with Infosys.

Below are the activities performed by different volunteers, last
weekend.

Saturday: Nov 14, 2009

[LEVEL 1]

[Ramya RJ]:
[Shraddha]: She wrote Alphabets in capital and small letters. She got
all the capital letters right but for the mirror image of ‘K’. She had
written the letters S to Z in caps in place of the small ones, guess
she had forgotten their smaller forms. I gave her the correct ones. I
then taught her the spelling of words ‘One’ to ‘Five’.
[LEVEL 2]
[Ramya RJ]:
[Dhananjay]: I gave him some sums on addition and subtraction. He did
them well. Then he joined his sister Prateeksha and tried guessing the
exercise I had given her.
[Dev]:
[Mangesh Chorghe, Prashant Jadhav]: We wrote sentences and then read
English story.
[LEVEL 3]
[Payoshni]:

[Prateeksha, Nikita and Rahil]: I asked them to write names of 10
animals all by themselves. All 3 of them wrote most of the spellings
correctly and did well.

[Ramya RJ]:
[Shweta, Pratiksha, Ganesh, Nilesh, Nikita Kamble]: I started off with
giving them a test. I asked them to write names of days of the week.
Prateeksha did very well. Shweta, Nikita and Ganesh took time to
complete and were wrong with some spellings. I found that Nilesh
didn’t know them. So I decided to teach him separately. I asked the
rest to write names of months while I concentrated on Nilesh. Nilesh
got them right. Just that he is so fond of weekends that he jumps to
Saturday after Wednesday. Prateeksha again, got the months right.
Shweta, Ganesh and Nikita had some trouble with spellings, I corrected
them.
[LEVEL 4]
[Kranti]:
[Nikita, Diksha, Kajal, Aishwarya, Pooja, Rahil]: I asked the kids to
write a few lines on Children’s day. Later I gave them arithmetic
problems. Only Rahil was able to get all the answers right. I
explained the logic to others, who got it right after a little
practice.
[Ashish]:
[Rahul]: I asked to write a short paragraph on Children’s day and then
I asked him to write a monologue on a train. It made my day after
seeing his fantastic work and nearly perfect English. :)

Sunday: Nov 08, 2009

[LEVEL 1]

[Nibhatish]:

[Supriya]: I asked her to write all alphabets. She can pronounce A-Z
with little help after P. She can copy and write all alphabets. She
knows all those but still there is no association between
pronunciation and alphabets that she writes.
[LEVEL 2]
[Nibhatish]:
[Sudhir]: I taught him Maths. We revised divisions and then I taught
him to solve problems of adding fractions . For that, I taught him LCM
but he did not understood it completely.
[Mangesh]: I taught him Maths. He was quite reluctant to study. I
taught him subtraction using borrow. He was able to solve it correctly
and solved numbers of problems.
[Dev]:
[Mangesh Chorghe, Azhar]: Mangesh revised numbers, mental maths sums.
Then Azhar and Mangesh together read story. Later, painting time.
[Ramya RJ]:
[Amit]: We did Math together. I gave him some sums on addition and
subtraction. He did well, going wrong at times. He had trouble if the
minuend had a digit as 0. I taught him the logic and he got it right.
Then we did some simple multiplication sums. He again had trouble if
one of the multiplicands had a 0. I gave him a few sums for practice
and he got them right.
[LEVEL 3]
[Ramya RJ]:
[Azhar, Nilesh]: They wanted to do Math so I gave them some problems
in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Nilesh was
good. He had some trouble with division and I cleared his doubts.
Azhar did a few sums but later decided to catch up with Dev on some
English lessons 
[LEVEL 4]
[Kranti]:
[Rahil, Nikita, Diksha ]: I revised the Arithmetic sums we had done on
Saturday. Later I told the kids to write 5 lines on rain.
