Hi All,
Last weekend was full of fun and joy.
We had some new volunteers joining in Prarambh for the first time.

New Faces at Prarambh:
This time we had three new volunteer and all from the same unit
“LexisNexis” ,

[Prakhar Singhal]: He is been working with Infosys for last 20 months
as a part of MFGX unit. He is currently working with LexisNexis
account.
[Hetuk Patel]: He is been working with Infosys for last 3 years as a
part of EUSD unit. He is also working for LexisNexis account.
[Ati Pahadiya]: She is been working with Infosys for last 1.5 years
as a part of EUSD unit. No points on guessing as she is also working
for LexisNexis account.
In her own words: -” My day one experience at PRARAMBH encourages me
to contribute more in this initiative.”

Below are the activities performed by different volunteers, last
weekend.
Saturday: July 04, 2009
[LEVEL 1]
• [Bhavna Kaku]
[Mahendra]: I asked him to write A-Z in capital. He could write till
J. I taught him alphabets from [K-O].

[LEVEL 2]
• [Bhavna Sanse]
[Sonali]: I took test of the words she had learnt last week. She had
some problem spelling the words properly initially, later she was able
to do it. Also she asked me to teach her Math’s as she had some test
on Monday. Took some addition and multiplication problems.
• [Ramya]
[Muskaan]: I taught her vowel sounds. Muskaan is a quick learner.
[Priyanka]: I taught her vowel sounds. Priyanka was not sure of the
alphabets in the first place. So I taught her that too. Needs more
personalized attention.
• [Ankita]
[Priyanka, Nikita and Mangesh Chhorge]: I revised with 3-lettered
words with vowels A, I and O with them and tried to make them
understand the sound and the difference in the sound. Made them read,
write and spell words with these vowels. They are still not very clear
and perhaps tend to forget the sounds of vowels over the weekend. I
want them to recognize the differences in these 3 vowels completely
before we move on to E and U.
• [Ankit]
[Azahar]: We continued with body parts taught last weekend. He
remembered few of them. I asked him to draw pictures of body parts and
write there spellings (Which were not taught earlier) from the L2
syllabus book. Also I asked him to write the sounds of words in Hindi
so that he can pronounce it well.

[LEVEL 3]
• [Payoshni]:
[Ganesh]: I took Ganesh of Level 3 and taught him means of Transport,
all of them, explained their meaning, use, how they work, on which
energy etc. He also learnt their names in English.

[LEVEL 4]
• [Kranti]:
[Rahil, Pooja, Anita and Shweta (L3)]: I revised the verb conjugations
with Rahil. He remembered most of the verbs, except for a few
irregular ones like “go” etc. He could also construct correct
sentences with the given verbs. I taught the rest of the kids about
framing questions and the verb position in a statement and a question.
Later they practiced reading.

Sunday: July 05, 2009
[LEVEL 1]
• [Prakhar]:
[Shubham]: I taught him small alphabets from f to u.

[LEVEL 2]
• [Dev]:
[Sonali]: As her school math’s test was scheduled next day, we revised
basic mathematics, additions, subtractions, multiplications.
• [Bhavna Sanse]:
[Dhananjay]: Continuing with multiplication of two digit number, I
gave him few problems, to my surprise he was able to recall the logic
and solved it correctly.
• [Ati Pahadiya]:
[Azahar]: I first I taught him parts of body using the material for
level2. He learnt it very fast after that I gave him task of Puzzle
solving: which was basically forming 3 letters words from groups of
words given. Also I gave him assignment to learn by heart few new
words and there meaning, that he learned while solving Puzzles.
• [Ramya]:
[Priyanka]: I taught her sounds of all alphabets. Priyanka was better
with her alphabets on Sunday.
[Muskaan]: I taught her sounds of all alphabets. She could read words
she hadn’t come across before.
[Nikita]: I taught her sounds of all alphabets. Nikita had a test on
Math in her school. So I gave all the three a test on addition. Nikita
got it all correct. Muskaan was the best. Priyanka definitely needs
more attention – both for Math and English.
• [Ankita]
[Priyanka and Nikita]: I first ask them both to write 5 lines about
there favorite animal and flower in English. Then using a book, they
read the names of vegetables, flowers, animals and objects used in
different seasons. Then they read a small paragraph on rainy season
and I told them the meaning of the difficult words in that.
• [Ankit]
[Kavita]: I taught her the logic of multiplication of two digit
numbers and gave her few problems. She did some mistakes which I
corrected and revised the logic of multiplication again.
• [Hetuk]
[Yasir]: Continuing with introduction which was taught last weekend, I
added one more line to his Introduction. Earlier he used to introduce
his sister and brother saying “I have one sister and her name is Fida.
I have a brother and his name is Rahil.” So it was not conveying that
whether he has an elder sister or younger, same for brother. So I
taught him a new sentence as “I have an elder sister, her name is Fida
and I have a younger brother, too, his name is Raheel.” Also I taught
him few new words.

[LEVEL 4]
• [Kranti]:
[Pooja, Anita, Shweta, Kajal and Aishwarya]: I told the kids to write
a paragraph on the “Rainy season”. The objective was to revise the
verb conjugations and the verb position in a sentence. Later I told
one of them to make a sentence (verbally) and the rest had to make
sentences related to that sentence.
