1. Be patient when playing online poker; don't let yourself get too
carried away.

2. Don't play too many hands, that is the first red light that makes
you stand out as an amateur.

3. Pay more attention to the board. Inexperienced poker players tend to
focus too much on their hand and less on the board. Watching the board
can help you estimate what other players are doing.

4. Mark the players from whom you think you should be careful, or the
"generous" players whom with you want to play more.

5. Focus on one specific game and master it. More often than not,
people like to try out all sorts of game variations which can result in
very little strategy being formed. Adjust to the game and develop an
advanced strategy. Master one game before you move on to the next.

6. Make time for each poker session. If you are in a hurry to get as
much poker into 30 minutes as possible, it's likely that you will
play out too many hands and will end up losing. Allow yourself enough
time to sit back, relax, and play well.

7. Try to work your way slowly up the limits. Even if you have a lot of
cash to play with, you should try playing the lower limit games first
simply because the competition is easier there.

8. Keep track of how well you are doing over time with a separate
bankroll. Keep record of how well you are doing at each limit you play,
so you can understand which games you play best at, and at which you
need to improve.

9. Only play at two tables when you are succeeding at the given limit.
Almost all players will not play as well if they are not able to focus
on one game at a time. If you are taking over a specific limit, then
you will probably be able to make more money by playing another game at
the same time. But, if you are breaking even, losing, or only just
winning, then stick to one game at a time.

10. Bear in mind what the pros are saying - if you can't spot the "easy
target" at your first half hour at the table, then you are the "easy
target".
