I've got a podcast directory (http://www.gospelpodcasting.com) that's
built using php/mysql, but I'd rather do something using opml/xml files
and keep it up that way. Anybody know much about that sort of thing?
I like php for stuff like this the best, but I'd appreciate any sort of
info, if you know much about it.

the OPML directory that runs the Religion node of iPodder.org is built
with a PHP/MySQL system. I've found the two to work great together.
PHP queries MySQL and then builds OPML ... as for XML; hmm sounds
interesting.

steve jobs about podcasting at wwdc "Wayne's World for Radio".

hmmm. how can the real wayne's finance the traffic produced by their radio shows? itunes is hitting us hard. it's like a ddos attack. it's a traffic eating monster.

1 GB costs aprox. 3 USD, not crossfinanced.

what do the wayne's want?
- 192kpbs high quality music and shows
- one hour
- every day

50'000 listeners and more.

start your calculaters. be shocked. and then wakeup and shout for p2p integration into itunes.....or stop podcasting and put us all on mtv.

Cable modem

Well thats the difference. If you use cable, the maximum 1 user can
download is 256-384 k. witch really means (25.6 kb-38.4 kb file size)
So, if your going to have 10 users downloading at the same time, the
connection is going to be very slow (2.5 kb-3.8 kb file size) . So its
good to use if it a low amount of users are accessing files or just
plain text web pages. But if you're expecting to take on a lot of
people downloading at once, its best to have a server on a T3
connection.

I was under the impression I can jack up to 1.5 mbps
using the zyxel boxes they now have. Maybe I'm wrong
here?

yeah i doubled checked for ya. i called rr and asked for the highest
upstream package and i was told that its 512k. so your users are
downloading at a third of a T1 line which still isn't much. Most cable
and aDSL companies will limit the upstream cause they dont want people
to create a business out of it. But im sure your getting great download
speeds. 8mb is pretty hot.

Thanks for dbl chkg. I think some rr service areas
are different then others. Here in Orlando, they said
I can go 1.5 upstream, What area did you call in?

we produce up to one terabyte a day. there is no such thing like "unlimited" data transfers. its all crossfinanced or am i wrong?

podcasters need worldwide caching. calculate again and help us to find a solution.

i did a spreadsheet with some parameters you can modify to calculate
your traffic costs. you can also calculate how much money you
will get from your listeners (if they would pay).

just modify or comment, if you think there are bugs inside.

Hey gang. I've had several questions about the
advertisers in PodcastSPOTS system. So here's an
update.

We just added GoToMeeting and have some household
names that as soon as we finish the audio for them,
they will be in the system too.

With GoToMeeting, we're paying $2 for an initial
listener trial, $20 if the listener puts their credit
card on file with GoToMeeting and $66 if the listener
continues with the service beyond 15 days.

You can see our new Giant iPod plugin at
http://PodcastSpots.com/AdsOnPods/AdsOnPods.aspx
scroll to the bottom, We're working on a smaller
version of it, so stay tuned. (Thanks for the advice
David)

We also are providing an 800 number for your listeners
to call and prompt them for the show they heard the ad
on (so you get credited of course. ) Without that, we
won't process their request.

To get the GoToMeeting ad in your show and Plugin,
goto http://PodcastSPOTS.com/FillerApp.aspx get the
filler utility and then use it on your next podcast,
In the criteria window, uncheck all deals except Pay
Per Purchase. Click fetch and then when done, publish
your show.

Next, get the Spot-Recall plugin and ad it to your
site and your insert will appear their as well.

We just did an interview with David Jackson from
School of Podcasting. Look for that soon at
http://coolerpodcasts.com Really cool site and his
demo on using Castblaster was awesome. That was at
http://castblaster.com I think the bottom link.

Be sure to use Internet Explorer to access our site as
we are still having issues with other browsers. Any
designers out there want to help us out with that, we
are open to teaming up with you.

That's a pity. I was all set to check it out until then. When you
get the problems solved, be sure to post back. I wish I was able to
help with solving the problem.

I have banned IE from our organization because of the security
problems, and because it's a really, really ancient browser. We have
an organization-wide policy of not dealing with single-browser sites
(whatever the browser).

You can access the site with Firefox, but there's some
overlap of text and so
to get the filler utility, goto

http://podcastspots.com/FillerApp.aspx

to get the spot recall plugin go straight to this
address,

http://PodcastSPOTS.com/GetSpotRecall.aspx

Thanks

Mark,

It's those ms_positioning attributes in your DIV tags that Mozilla browsers
aren't liking.

Looks like you're using Visual Studio to lay out the pages. Open up your
project in VS and select your application properties from the bottom of the
'Project' drop-down menu. Then click 'Designer Defaults' and set the 'Target
Schema' to IE and Netscape rather than just IE. That should cause it to
generate tags that are Mozilla friendly.
