Thank you to everyone who put the camp in podcamp. It's an amazing
community of generous, creative people and I am fortunate to have
discovered it.

With that said, I'd really be interested in knowing what out there
podcampers are listening to and watching. What are your favorites?

Rather than post that here, I'd recommend everyone check out Share My
OPML at share.opml.org - export your subscriptions, and you can also
see who else subscribes to what you do. For example, CC Chapman and I
have very similar subscriptions.

I am preparing for a launch on Monday and really need some help on
getting my QT streamed video to appear on the page the way I want it
to. 320x240 just doesn't cut it. If this person knows the ins and
outs of Quicktime Pro and knows how to create a hinted streaming file
that isn't grossly overweight, but appears cleanly on the screen,
that would be a beautiful thing.

My office and equipment are up in North Andover, MA, so if you happen
to have some expertise in this area and are available at some point
between now and Sunday night, I would be forever grateful for your
help. I'll be happy to compensate you for your time.

Please email me at mailto:and...@bourland.com and let me know if you
think you can help.

Thanks,

Andy

The problem with this is that WordPress parses out the HTML that allows you to embed video. I know there are some work arounds for some if you are hosting on wordpress.com but if this is an actual install of it on your server then right now I do not know of any work around. It's a pain I know.

I have already worked around that issue. I have video showing up on the page. The problem is that I want a better image appearing on the page -- a little larger, a little clearer, without taking up a ridiculous amount of space on the server. I'd like to have my QT video with the same size and clarity as what you see on Rocketboom, which is also Quicktime.

Ahh....gotcha.

You need to adjust your settings so that when you create the file they come out at the desired size. These will lead to much larger file sizes.

There are compression tools (I use Cleaner XL on the PC) which will allow you to have a much larger size and clearer picture with a smaller file size, but you have to run it through a compression tool. I'm assuming RocketBoom does this. this is also why you will see Apple having such clear trailers while the sizes not being too crazy.

Hope this helps.

That's right. I know how to create a larger streamed video in Quicktime, but it's a massive file. I'm a Mac user, so the PC compression tools don't help me. Anybody know of some Mac based compression tools that will do the same thing?

On the Mac, I usually use ffmpegX and/or iSquint to produce good
quality video for the iPod and the site. ffmpegX will allow you to
transcode all kinds of different ways.

http://homepage.mac.com/major4/
http://www.iSquint.org

My general process is:
Dump from iMovie into Quicktime Full Quality
Transcode from original with ffmpegx for YouTube, etc.
Transcode from original with iSquint for iPod video for feed.

How about they post it here?

I don't even know what OPML is and would have no idea how to export
subscriptions or any of that.

Plus, I like the personal touch of mentioning things that interest you.

Is that so hard?

One way to avoid the long posts, share subscriptions, and avoid the
messy-geeky OPML stuff is to use the new Feed Collectors service
<http://feedcollectors.com/> which may do for RSS feed collections
what Feedburner did for RSS feeds themselves. This provides one
(of many ways out there including OPML) way share feed collections,
in fact, Feed Collectors allows you to add feeds to your list either
via OPML or one at a time. Check them out.

Cheers,

David.
