Hello Gardeners and Supporters,

Here are some updates:

1) We've received an additional delivery of composted manure (good stuff from Adirondack Stables) for amendment to our soil. Please, if you've already taken some, allow others to get some before getting any more.

2) Tiller: Our little tiller is being worked on at Taylor Rental in Plattsburgh. Hopefully it can be fixed for a minimal cost and we can make it work for the garden. If not, we'll have to hand turn this year, but we'll save for a new tiller next year. I have my eye on a nice little four stroke honda that is commercial grade and would be perfect for our uses.

3) Remember: We're working on a hose solution, but for now, please use the blue hydrant and buckets / water cans to water your plot. Make sure to re-lock the water and shed when you leave the garden. Our garden is not set-up to accept hoses now and damage may be done if you drag a hose into the garden now without proper preparation. Your help on our first two work days will make this go faster for us.

Combination: Water 4-3-2-1
Shed 1-2-3-4 (these might be turned around, I can't remember for sure)

4) I'll be bringing a load of seeds to the shed today for anyone that would like to have them. Please try to keep them well organized in the box, so we don't have too much of a problem.

5) Be advised, that although it is beautiful, it may still be too early for some seedling planting. If you put in tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, etc, they may be damaged or killed by a frost, which is entirely possible. Use your best judgement. If you want to plant early, you could consider row cover to keep the little plants from getting too cold. Here is a link: http://www.organicgardening.com/learn-and-grow/row-covers

6) Community Garden Work Day and Basics of Community Garden Class - Saturday, May 11th at 10AM. If you are new to the garden, please try to attend this class which will start at 10 AM. Immediately following the class, we'll do some community garden work (like aisle pathway maintenance, compost turning and sorting / screening along with other jobs that benefit the whole garden). Bring work gloves.

Also, I've attached the most up-to-date gardner list and plot layout. I would greatly appreciate if someone would please print one of each and bring to garden to post on the bulletin board inside the shed. In addition, please print-out this plot holder agreement for posting. My printer is down.
