Garden Update: Penfield Water

Gardeners,

The hose system is installed at the Penfield Garden. Please keep these tips in mind:

• Pull the hose, not the wand. Yanking on the spray attachment is a sure way to damage our hoses.
• Move the hose before you charge it with water.
• Notice that there is a water shutoff at the base of every hose. Turn it off when you are done.
• Water the roots, not the leaves.
• If a hose become damaged, let us know. In the meantime, carefully use another hose, returning it to its home aisle when done. Or hand water.
• If someone is already watering, consider waiting till they are done or hand watering. If more than a couple people water at the same time, the pressure will be too low.
• Water seeds and transplants when you plant them. Otherwise, watering is best done in the early morning or evening, not in the middle of the day.
