The Power of Perspective: What a Lost Contact Lens Can Teach Us About Value

Sometimes, the smallest experiences carry the biggest lessons. Consider this simple story:

A teenager lost a contact lens while playing basketball in his driveway. He searched for a few minutes, growing frustrated when he couldn’t find it, and eventually gave up.

His mother, noticing his struggle, decided to look herself. Within moments, she located the lens. Surprised, the teenager asked, “I looked everywhere, how did you do that?”

Her reply was simple yet profound: “We weren’t looking for the same thing. You were looking for a small piece of plastic. I, on the other hand, was looking for $150.”

 خطیب نے ایک واقعہ نقل کیا ہے کہ ایک موچی امام  ابو حنیفہ رحمہ اللہ کے پڑوس میں رہتا تھا، دن بھر بازار میں کام کرتا اور رات بھر شراب کے نشے میں شور مچاتا رہتا، امام صاحب کو اس کی حرکتوں سے بہت تکلیف ہوتی، عبادت وریاضت میں خلل ہوتا، لیکن کبھی بھی اس سے شکایت نہ کی،

ایک دن پولیس موچی کو پکڑ کر لے گئی اور جیل میں بند کردیا، رات بھر امام صاحب نے اس کے شور وشرابے نہیں سنے ،پتہ کیاتو معلوم ہوا کہ پولیس پکڑ کر لے گئی ہے، امام صاحب اپنے بلند مقام کا خیال کئے بغیر سیدھے کچہری پہونچے، کچہری میں کھلبلی مچ گئی ، حاکم جو آپ کا شاگرد تھا  خودبھاگا ہوا باہر آیا اور دریافت کیا کہ حضرت یہاں قدم رنجہ فرمانے کی کیا وجہ ہے؟ فرمایا کہ میرے محلہ کا موچی جو میرا پڑوسی بھی ہے پولیس والوں نے اسے گرفتار کرکے جیل بھیج دیا ہے، اسے میری ضمانت پر رہا کردیا جائے، چنانچہ اسے جیل سے رہا کردیا گیا، 

موچی جب جیل سے باہر آیا تو دیکھا گیا کہ امام صاحب اس کا ہاتھ پکڑے ہوئے فرمارہے ہیں کیوں بھائی! میں نے تمہیں ضائع ہونے تو نہیں دیا اس پر موچی سرجھکائے کہہ رہا تھا نہیں میرے سردار! میرے آقا! آج کے دن سے آپ مجھے ایسی حرکتوں میں مبتلا نہ پائیں گے، جن سے آپ کو اذیت ہوتی تھی، امام صاحب کے اخلاق کی بلندی کا حال ملاحظہ فرمائیے، جس موچی نے امام صاحب کو ہمیشہ تکلیف پہونچائی اس کے ساتھ بھی آپ نے کس قدربلند اخلاقی کا مظاہرہ کیا۔

امام صاحب نہ صرف خود اخلاق کی بلندیوں پر فائز تھے؛ بلکہ اپنے کارندوں اور ملازموں کو بھی خوش اخلاقی کا سبق دیا کرتے تھے۔
