David (Spike) Roberson writes on his linkedin site: Retired A350 Captain and lucky husband to a beautiful Japanese girl that I met in Osaka in 2005. The best thing that ever happened to me!
I got my wings as a Naval Aviator in February of 1982 and then spent 7-years in the Marines flying CH-53A/D heavy- lift helicopters and the T-34C Turbo Mentor as a flight instructor in the training command at NAS Whiting Field. I left the USMC in 1989 and was hired by Northwest Airlines. At NWA I flew as a flight-engineer on the B727, First-Officer on the A320, First-Officer and Captain on the DC-9 and finally as a First-Officer on the B747-400. After the merger with Delta Air Lines I’ve flown as Captain on the B737NG, the B757 & B767, and currently fly as Captain on the A350 based in Detroit Metro Airport. I am retiring from airline flying in May 2023 ……………..
DAVID LEE ROBERSON tributes are many….this veteran’s site is a place to view and share memories.
Spike was a true Marine—resolute, fearless, and unwavering in the face of any challenge, whether in the skies or on the ground. Always rising to the occasion, he embodied the Marine spirit with relentless dedication until every mission was complete. Beyond his strength and passion for aviation, he will be most remembered for his warm heart and deep love for his wife, Meg. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
