USAF veteran, DL pilot/instructor Charles Lynn Ellyson
January 17, 1958 - December 14, 2025

Charles “Chuck” Lynn Ellyson joined Delta Air Lines 04-28-1988. He served as a pilot in the United States Air Force for 7 years, flying the F-15. He worked for Delta Air Lines for 34 years, as a pilot, Fleet Captain, General Manager of International Operations, and instructor. Chuck is survived by his wife Diana, and by his children and their families.

Charles Lynn Ellyson, age 67, of Fayetteville, Georgia, passed away December 14, 2025. He was born on January 17, 1958, in Canton, Ohio, to Charles and Marjorie Ellyson. Chuck grew up working on his family's dairy farm in Northeastern Ohio. He graduated from Malone College and then Florida Institute of Technology with a master's degree in aviation management. Chuck served as a pilot in the United States Air Force for 7 years, flying the F-15. He worked for Delta Air Lines for 34 years, as a pilot, Fleet Captain, General Manager of International Operations, and instructor. He volunteered with Square Foot Ministry and as an interim pastor for New Providence Church. Chuck enjoyed cycling, skiing, traveling, and the many family traditions that he inspired. With all he accomplished, his greatest gift was his Christian witness and his undying love for his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Chuck impacted all who knew him and will be sorely missed.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diana (Jones) Ellyson, and children: Erin (John) Moriner of League City, Texas, Nathan (Laura) Ellyson of Fayetteville, Georgia, Austin (Alice) Ellyson of University Place, Washington, Bethany (Brandon) Wheeling of Fayetteville, Georgia, Harrison (Jackie) Ellyson of Dallas, Georgia. Chuck is also survived by 4 siblings Mike (Lisa) Ellyson, Joan (Joe) Thomas, Sharon (Jim) Ochsendorf, Eric (Kristen) Ellyson, 2 sisters-in-law Catherine (Ed) Vinson, Linda Jones, and 10 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations be made to New Providence Church or Square Foot Ministry.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at New Providence Church, 592 Bernhard Rd, Fayetteville, GA 30215, on January 3, 2026, 10:00-10:45 visitation and service at 11:00.
