BARBARA JEAN KEENAN , 1937~2010
KEENAN, BARBARA JEAN, 73, of Hoover, Alabama passed away peacefully on
May 31, 2010. Her legacy of love and kindness lives on through her
four children Daniel, Maureen, David, and Amy, and her five
grandchildren, Andrew, Hannah, Hayley, Abby and Greg. She is also
survived by her two sisters Jacquelyn and Virginia, and her brother,
Gary. Barbara was born January 23, 1937 in Boston, Massachusetts.
After graduating high school in North Quincy, Massachusetts, she went
on to fly as a fight attendant at Northeast Airlines where she met her
husband of 48 years, Donald Keenan. After living in Long Island,
Atlanta, and Hilton Head, she has spent the last three years in
Hoover. Barbara will always be remembered for her kindness and love
and will be greatly missed. Because of her passion for St. Judes
Children Hospital, donations in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 3rd at 2pm at Prince
of Peace Catholic Church in Hoover, Alabama.

Donald Keenan , 1931~2006
Donald "Don" Keenan, 74, of Hilton Head Island died Saturday, Oct. 14,
2006, at his home.
He was born Dec. 20, 1931, in Hempstead, N.Y., and had lived on Hilton
Head since 1986.
He earned a bachelor's degree from State University of New York,
Maritime College, in 1953, receiving a naval commission upon
graduation. He joined the U.S. Navy and entered its CIC program prior
to becoming an aviator. He received the "Student Pilot of the Year"
award upon completion of flight training, served in Japan and Korea as
a naval pilot during the Korean War, and left the service as a
captain.
Mr. Keenan joined Delta Air Lines in 1957. He served as a line pilot
qualified in nine types of aircraft, a supervisory pilot and a flight
training program director until his retirement in 1991 after 35 years
of service. During his military and commercial career, he surpassed
30,000 hours of flight time.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara; four children, Dan,
Maureen, David and Amy; three grandchildren, Andrew, Hannah and Haley;
and a brother, Arthur J. Keenan of Muttontown, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jean Cote.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at The Island Funeral
Home and Crematory. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at
noon Wednesday at St. Francis By the Sea Catholic Church. A reception
will be held at the TidePointe Clubhouse following the service.
