He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before transitioning to civil aviation, quickly becoming a Captain with Delta Airlines……………..

Godfrey Wilhelm “GW” Biscamp passed away peacefully at home in Dallas, Texas on September 1, 2025. A Test Pilot, an Airline Captain, Professional Engineer and Force of Nature, GW lived a life defined by passion, precision and purpose. His legacy is etched in the skies he loved, the machines he mastered and the lives he touched with fierce determination and unshakeable loyalty.

 

From youth, GW was captivated by flight – spending high school afternoons watching take- off and landings at the Atlanta airport. After graduation from TCU, he became a Test Pilot for defense contractor Northrop Grumman, pushing high performance jets to their limits. He later joined the U.S. Air Force, where he felt at home in an F-4 Phantom, what he called “a true Pilot’s plane”. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before transitioning to civil aviation, quickly becoming a Captain with Delta Airlines.

 

After the events of 9/11 changed the landscape of commercial aviation, GW was recruited by NASA, where he again used his skills to test aircraft. While there, he also leaned into his engineering background. Under the mentorship of a top Operations Manager there, GW helped manage large-scale engineering projects and became an early expert in the emerging field of Life Safety Engineering. His contributions there culminated in earning his Ph.D. in Engineering.

 

When he was diagnosed with Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis, GW was told that the only solution – a double-lung transplant - was too risky for him. But with typical perseverance, and the help of a gifted surgeon Dr. Gabriel Loor and his staff at Baylor St. Luke in Houston, a GW-style miracle happened. After a year of recovery, he fulfilled a promise he had made to himself. He jumped in his truck, drove to Dallas and knocked on the door of his high-school sweetheart that he had not spoken to in 43 years. She opened the door, and her heart, to him and they lived happily together the rest of his days.

 

GW is survived by his loving wife Lynn, adored daughter Emily Wilson and beloved granddaughter Sarah Wollam.

 

Donations in his name would be welcomed by Baylor College of Medicine Lung Transplant Research Fund c/o Dr. Gabriel Loor, to allow more people this marvelous gift of more time.
