PIK20E throttle cable

I have an internal failure of my throttle cable. The wire element and the housing are intact with continuity, but the mechanism at the knob end does not allow the throttle to be opened more than about a half inch before hitting a hard stop. Does anyone know a source for a new or serviceable replacement? And is there a drawing in the Finnish files?

I don't see how a defect in the cable or housing could create a hard stop.  How are you thinking about it?

Hi, Brett, et al,

The hard stop of the throttle at the idle end of travel felt like the shaft at the cockpit end was hitting a shoulder, as if the shaft travel was too far at idle, and whatever transition between that shaft and the .078 piano wire was out of its track, for want of a better description. I say that without seeing the assembly's internals or a drawing of same.

I somehow got past that "shoulder" and I was able to pressure lubricate the throttle cable assembly and adjust the travel so the shaft doesn't extend as far at idle.  At this time, opening the throttle takes firm pressure, and it closes easily (probably both actions influenced by the carb return springs). That suggests to me that the internal cable lining may be degraded. Understand that I did earlier replace the two cables from the splitter to the carbs.

One consolation is that I did find an Aircraft Spruce vendor that can fabricate a replacement throttle cable...ACS Products, A-820 series. They will build to order.  It looks like a "fun" project.
