Hello! I'm new to this forum and have just started studying philosophy.
I am currently finishing up on Wheelwright's translatrion of
Aristotle's Ethics and I am also reading The Basic Works of Aristotle
translated by Richard McKeon. I am curious to have any debates or
discussions pertaining to Ethics and the soul.

Ok, I guess we can start by defining Ethics and the Soul,
this is my understanding,
Ethics are standards we set for ourselves that we live by pertaining to
right and wrong or Good and Bad.
The Soul is the part of your being that can not be distroyed by any
human being

do we agree more or less so far ?

I agree. Though, lets define the soul further. I will state that the
soul consists of two parts reason and non reason (or irrational piece).
The part of the soul with reason determines the standards we set for
ourselves based on moral standards. While the irrational part- lets
take in to consideration Hobbes's 'state of nature'- gives us our
instinctual abilities to get what we need at any means possible. So i
will end my current statement by satating that the reasonable part of
the soul is the piece we attain desires from, and the irrational piece
is where we attain our needs from.

I'm not so sure that the soul has two parts, without the body, the soul
has very little need for desires. I think the soul and the body it
lives in may be the two parts you are reffering to...
