I lived with a Turk who was half Kurdish in New York. He said he came
to the US because of bias back home. Interesting that I asked him if he
was Kurdish before he told me. There was a sort of defensiveness and
anger there that aligned with things I'd been reading about. While he
was openly proud to be a Turk, there was an emotional conflict present
within him. So I asked...and he told me why.
