By Esther Figueroa and Diana McCaulay;
'Jamaica For Sale' counters the dominant view that tourism is the savior of the Jamaican people. Lively and hard hitting, with powerful voices, arresting visuals and iconic music, the film documents the environmental, economic, social and cultural impacts of unsustainable tourism development. As Jamaica is irreversibly transformed by massive hotel and luxury condominium development, 'Jamaica For Sale' both documents this transformation and tries to turn the tide.
Winner of the Audience Award at the Africa World Documentary Film Festival, the Bronze Palm Award at the Mexico International Film Festival, and the Rising Star Award at the Canada Film Festival.

"I'm sick of that fake thug,
R & B, rap scenario all day on the radio
Same scenes in the video, monotonous material,
y'all don't hear me though
These record labels slang our tapes like dope
You can be next in line, and signed,
and still be writing rhymes and broke
You would rather have a Lexus, some justice,
a dream or some substance?
A Beamer, a necklace or freedom?" - DEAD PREZ

Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable ... It comes only through the tireless efforts and passionate concern of dedicated individuals ... This is no time for apathy nor complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action.'

"Going among the people, learning from the people, and serving the people is really stating that we must find out exactly what the people need and organize them around these needs...we have a nation of slaves who control no more wealth than some clothes, perhaps a worthless automobile, and a roof of sorts over their heads, but who have been successfully conditioned to feel rich or at least contented."
-George Jackson
