Muppies is accepting applications for the Muppies Investment Banking Program (MIBP) which seeks to prepare Muslim college juniors for the investment banking internship recruiting process. Last year, 17 of the 20 participants placed at top investment banks and trading firms.

MIBP will consist of three webinars on the following topics, guidance through the recruiting process and resume review.

The biographies of the mentors and program advisors are below.

Mentors:

Imran Aijazuddin: Imran Aijazuddin is an analyst in the New York office at Evercore Partners, an investment bank that focuses on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and restructuring advisory.  He has worked at Evercore for over two years and previously was an intern at Liberty Lane Partners, a private equity firm based near Boston, MA.  Imran received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business with high honors. Imran was Vice President of BBA Affairs for the Community Consulting Club, President of the Muslim Business Students Association, and a school-appointed tutor for various BBA- and MBA-level courses.

Shahid Bosan: Shahid is an Associate in the Direct Investment Group of GIC Special Investments in New York. Previously, he worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Mergers and Acquisitions and Financial Institutions Groups. Shahid graduated Magna Cum Laude from University of Pennsylvania with a dual degree in Finance and System Engineering in 2011.

Nabil Islam: Nabil is a second year analyst at Lazard in the General Banking group (Industrials & Consumer M&A). He received his BBA with high honors from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business. He completed internships at Lazard and a boutique merchant bank. While at Ross, he served as president of the Alternative Investments Club and was an Investment Banking Career Counselor with the Office of Career Development. He will be joining Citadel Investments within their Global Equities Long/Short platform in the summer of 2014. 

Haroon Ismail: Haroon is a second year analyst at Morgan Stanley in their Power & Utilities group. He received a B.S. in Finance and Accounting and a minor in Politics from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He has completed internships at Morgan Stanley and at a macro hedge fund called Moore Capital Management. While at NYU, he was President and Head of Investment Portfolios of the Quantitative Finance Society. Haroon will be joining AEA Investors as a private equity associate in the summer of 2014.

Ahmad Raza: Ahmad Raza is an analyst at Barclays with the TMT Corporate Finance and M&A group, covering primarily media and telecom clients. Outside of work, he enjoys watching / playing basketball, football and ultimate frisbee. Ahmad graduated from NYU in May 2012 with a B.S. in Finance, Economics, and Public Policy & Management.

Program Advisors:

Omar Qureishi: Omar Qureishi is in the first year of his MBA at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Prior to pursuing his MBA, he was an Analyst in the Healthcare Group at Warburg Pincus LLC, a New York-based private equity firm that has invested over $40 billion in over 650 companies in more than 30 countries around the world. From 2009-2011, Omar was an Analyst at Barclays Capital in the Investment Banking Division focusing on Mergers & Acquisitions within the healthcare sector. Omar graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University with a BA in Economics and Mathematics in 2009.

Zuhair Khan: Zuhair Khan is an Associate at Madison Dearborn Partners, a Chicago-based private equity firm that has managed over $18 billion of equity capital. Previously, Zuhair was an Analyst at Evercore Partners. Zuhair graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in Business Honors and Finance, and BA in History. At UT, he was awarded the R.C. Doenges Award as the most outstanding Business Honors graduate and the McCombs School of Business Rising Star Award. He currently serves on the McCombs BBA/MPA Alumni Advisory Board, representing 67,000 alumni and co-chairs the McCombs Financial Analyst Program Advisory Committee.
