Screening: A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness

Join Penn Pakistan Society for a screening of the Oscar winning documentary! A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness is a 2015 documentary film directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy about honor killings in Pakistan. The documentary follows the story of an eighteen-year-old girl, who survives an honor killing attempt by her father and uncle. The documentary was well received by critics and earned widespread critical acclaim. A Girl in the River was shortlisted with ten other documentaries from 74 entries submitted to88th Academy Awards in Documentary Short Subject category, which it won.
PennSID: Global Art Benefit Venue: Twelve Gates Art Gallery, Old City Date & Time: Friday, April 22nd, 6PM PennSID invites you to their inaugural Global Art Benefit! The Benefit will take place at the Twelve Gates Art Gallerywhich was founded by a Pakistani and showcases emerging artists from South Asia. The Benefit will be an opportunity to bid on photostaken by members of the Penn community and raise money for the Swat Relief Initiative (SRI), a nonprofit that works to promote healthcare, education, economic growth and a sustainable environment to better the lives of communities in the Swat Valley, Pakistan. There will be representatives from SRI at the event to answer any questions you may have!

Penn MSA welcomes you to its annual Family Fair, a day of fun, food and games for the West Philadelphia Muslim community. This year they'll have a moon-bounce, barbecue, arts & crafts, plenty of games, and even the opportunity pie a member of the MSA exec board! This event is free and open to everyone!
