Hello Everyone!

For those of you who signed up during the Activities Fair, welcome! We look forward to getting to know you and having a great time together! And to those of you who helped run our table, thank you! (Also, if any of you have any of the Kaplan sheets, email me and I'll arrange to collect them).

Here are a few highlights of what's to come this semester as well as some important information about specific events:

Welcome Back Céilí

On September 5th at 8:00pm in Hall of Flags, we will be hosting our big Welcome Back Céilí! A céilí (pronounced kay-lee) is an Irish themed party with Irish music and dancing. We will be hosting dancing performances, as well as lessons in step, set, and of course céilí dancing. There will also plenty of food and space to meet and greet and get to know each other! We expect everyone to have a grand time, so be sure to join us!

GBMs

The general club will host meetings every other week with our first meeting being on September 8th 6pm, location TBD. At these meetings, we will     as well as discuss events such as trad sessions, movie nights, pub outings, festivals, BYOs with other clubs,

Dance Lessons

For those of you interested in step dancing lessons, Emily will be teaching the beginners section from 7:00-8:00pm and the advanced section from 8:00-9:00pm in Arch dance studio 304 on Tuesdays starting September 2nd.

Meanwhile, if anyone is interested in learning more about the slightly more informal social forms of set or ceili dancing, I will stay behind for half an hour after each general club meeting to teach that.

Gaelic Football

I'm excited to say that we had a large number of responses about participating in Gaelic football this year. If you are interested, please be sure to come to our first GBM. Connor is our sports director and he will provide you all with details of how to play and when to meet for that. If you can't make it, email me and I'll make sure you get further emails about this fun opportunity!

Misc.

For those of you who are interested, there is a festival coming up, Irish Traditional Music and Dance Festival running from September 11-13 at the Irish Center. If anyone is interested in going, shoot me an email and we can arrange to go as a group.

That's all for now. Hope you enjoyed the summer and can't wait to see you at our events!

Slán,
Amber McCoy
