Hi everyone,
First and foremost, there is a ceili tonight! Check out the attached poster. The dance group, Tír na Nóg, has worked very hard and is hosting a ceili tonight for you all to enjoy. It will be in Houston Hall in the Class of '49 Auditorium from 6-9pm and tickets are $5. So come out, watch some impressive dancers, eat some food, and learn a step or two yourself!
In other news, you might have noticed that we've not been very active this semester. There are some unfortunate reasons for this. There have been a lot of miscommunications and issues that unfortunately led to Penn Irish becoming de-recognized as an official group on campus. This has in turn led to problems in attaining funding, buying equipment, reserving rooms, etc. Due to even more miscommunications, I have not managed to get us re-recognized as a group. However, if you are still interested in Penn Irish, there are some things which you can do:
- Anyone interested in what was purely the dance side of the club should contact Emily about joining Tir na Nog (er...@sas.upenn.edu).
- Anyone interested in reviving Penn Irish and is not graduating should reply to this email. It will be much easier to get the club recognized again next semester but I am graduating and thus won't be around to present the case to the appropriate people. If all of this sounds daunting, it's not. We just need a person who will be on campus in the fall able to physically talk to people about getting the club going again.
- That being said, if anyone is interested in board positions for next year, presumably you're interested in keeping the club around as well. Therefore, reply to this email about both and we'll sort it out. Board positions require little time each month depending on the events organized but are a fun way to stay involved with the club.
I'm truly sorry for how all of this turned out this semester. However, the Irish are never deterred by setbacks, so be sure to reply if you're interested in reviving the club next year. Otherwise, be sure to enjoy the ceili tonight!
