Blessings and all good, fellow penitents, friends, inquirers, affiliates, and associates of the Confraternity of Penitents,

May St. Mary Magdalene intercede on her feast day for this child. And may God reward you for your prayers for Cameron. This request was sent to us by Shana Buck.

There is an urgent need for prayers.  My friend Laura Surman found her daughter Cameron this morning with her head stuck in a toy box.  Cameron (18 months old) was caught by the neck, she was not breathing and had turned blue.  Laura is a nurse and performed CPR – after a very long time, they found a pulse.  Cameron is at Children’s Hospital right now – she is fighting for her life. Cameron is on a respirator and in a medically induced comma – there is brain swelling.  Please please pray – beg God to spare this child – beg God to help Cameron.

Thank you for your prayers.

God bless

- Mary

We just got back from the hospital.  Cameryn (correct spelling) is in a medically induced coma and is to remain so for the next 72 hours.  The doctors are decreasing her body temperature in hopes of reducing the swelling of her brain.  In my life I have never seen a sadder sight.  This poor child, so tiny, hooked up to every tube, every machine, everything and anything imaginable – you can barely see her face for the tape, her blond curly hair hidden under electrodes.  They have only a sheet on her, so to help with the body cooling – her little hands and feet are ice cold.  My friend is devastated – I can’t begin to imagine the pain that she is in.  The doctors say that the next 48 hours are the most critical – they must keep her exactly as she is now if she is to survive and with minimal brain damage.

As of right now they are not sure exactly what happened, only that Cameryn was playing with toys from a wicker basket and the lid came down – her body was half in/half out – they are not sure what caused her to stop breathing.  Only minutes before, Laura had watched Cameryn dance to “Go Diego Go”.

Laura’s performing of CPR saved Cameryn’s life.  I have known Laura for almost 30 years – I believe that she became a nurse in order to save her daughter’s life today.

Please, I beg of you, continue to pray – God is the only one that can make Cameryn well – God needs to perform a miracle.

God’s blessings be with Cameryn tonight.

- Mary
