From the Telegraph of 2 Dec 2023: AUSTEN Lt Cdr Francis Henry Inskip, RN (Retd). Died peacefully at home on 23rd November 2023, aged 99. A much loved husband of the late Pamela, youngest brother of the late Amyas and Alwyn and uncle to Belinda and Jonathan. He was s of Rev Frederick William AUSTEN 1873-1960 by his 1914 m reg Q2 Kent to Mary Flora Julia ALLAN 1879-1969. He m 1963 Pamela Margaret 1917-90 d of Sir Philip Lee BROCKLEHURST 2^nd Bt 1887-1974 and his 1^st Gwladys 1891-1972 d of Col Charles Edward Gostling MURRAY 1825-92 (gt gs of 3^rd Duke of ATHOLL 1729-74 and The Baroness STRANGE 1731-1805, etc etc) and his 2^nd w Margaret Frances Elizabeth d 1910 d of Rev John William CONANT 1824-84 (s of John Edward CONANT 1777-1848 who was gt gf of Sir Roger John Edward CONANT 1^st Bt CVO 1899-1973) and Frances Catherine GROVES c1818-1891.

The late Lt-Cdr Austen's great-grandfather was Admiral of the Fleet Sir Francis William AUSTEN, GCB (23 IV 1774 - 10 VIII 1865), a brother of the novelist Jane AUSTEN (16 XII 1775 - 18 VII 1817).
