From the Telegraph of 25 March 2026: Mr A.W. Fane and Mrs V.M. Humphrey - The engagement is announced between Mr Andrew Fane, OBE, of Woodbridge, Suffolk and London, and Mrs Valerie Humphrey, of Los Angeles, Hampshire and London.

Andrew William Mildmay OBE b 1949 s of Maj Robert William Augustus FANE 1913-89 (8xgt gs of 1 Earl of WESTMORLAND 1580-1628) and Elinor Valerie 1915-2008 d of Hon William BORTHWICK 1879-1956 (yr s of Sir Thomas BORTHWICK 1 Bt 1835-1912 who was nominated a peer but died before his creation as such. His eldest son was cr 1912 1st & only Baron WHITBURGH 1874-1967, while the Bt’s yr sons were granted the rank of sons of a peer but were in remainder to the baronetcy only) and Ruth Margery RIGBY 1881-1971. He m first 1989 Dame Clare Lucy MARX DBE 1954-2022, no issue.
