_. John Paget Chancellor, who died 31 December, 2014, aged 87, was a publisher, author and bibliophile, descended from the Paget baronets (Bt, UK, cr 1886).

He was born 1 July, 1927, son of Sir Christopher John Chancellor, CMG (who d 1989), by his wife the former Sylvia Mary Paget, OBE (daughter of the 2nd baronet); married 1959 (div 1968) the Hon (Mary) Alice Joliffe, (b 1937), daughter of the 4th Baron Hylton (Baron UK, cr 1866), by whom he had issue, a son (John) Edward Horner (Eddie) Chancellor (b 1962) married to Martin Amis's former wife Antonia; &  daughters ~ Isabel Rose (b 1959), Katharine Sylvia Anthony (b 1961), who married the writer Will Self and then the restaurateur Rowley Leigh, and Anna Theodora (b 1965), the actress Anna Chancellor.

John Paget Chancellor was head of the gentry family of that name of Hunstrete House. His only son (above) succeeded him as head of the family.
