From the Telegraph of 7 Jan 2026: SPALTON Catherine (née Bompas) died peacefully at home aged 76 on 13th December 2025. Greatly loved wife of David and mother of George, James and Ben. A Service and Celebration of her life will be held in Southwark Cathedral at 11 a.m. on Friday 13th March. Family and friends are warmly invited. Donations in her memory can be made to Royal Trinity Hospice, who looked after her with great care and kindness in her last few weeks.

She was d of Donald George BOMPAS CMG 1920-2013 (Who’s Who) and Freda Vice SMITHYMAN of Malawi. She m 1979 Prof. David John SPALTON b March 1947 (Who’s Who) and had three sons as above. The middle son James Michael Joseph SPALTON b Jan 1983 m 2011 Clementine Rose b 1984 d of Anthony William (son of Maj Bertram William JEPSON-TURNER MC 1870-1954 of Nether Wallop, Hants and Rosemarie Helen 1916-97 d of Maj Sir Archibald Leonard LUCAS-TOOTH 2nd & final Bt 1884-1918 and Rosa Mary 1895-1918 d of Charles Arthur BOVILL 1853-1932 and Hon Penelope Magdalen SCLATER-BOOTH d 1932 d of 1 Baron BASING 1826-94) and Lucy Katherine, dau of W F BRADFORD of Elder Mountain, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and had issue.
