He died on 23 February 2026 presumably in South Africa - see this facebook post by his sister Kassey [Kathryn Ann] Belluigi with details of a memorial service -  (5) Facebook

He was the son of Sir Humphrey Caesar Hawkins, 7th Baronet (1923-1993) and (m 1952) Anita FUNKEY.  He succeeded his brother Sir Howard Caesar Hawkins, the 8th Baronet in 1999.  He m 1992 Ernestine EHRENSPERGER and had a son who succeeds him (assuming he was born before his parents' marriage as DPB indicates):-

Sir Jonathan Caesar Hawkins, 10th Baronet, subject to proving his claim and being entered on the official Roll of the Baronetage, b 23 June 1992 apparently unm

If Sir Jonathan were to die without legitimate male issue it appears the baronetcy would become dormant

Excellent work, Colin - many thanks. Please could I ask which line(s) of the family are not yet fully accounted for if the title would become dormant rather than extinct in the scenario you outline above?

Hi Tim.

In looking at the last print edition of DPB, it leaves room for the possibility of the existence  first, of decendants of 4 sons of the late Arthur Caesar HAWKINS of South Africa,  7th son of the 3rd Baronet.  The 4 sons were born  between 1857 and 1875

It also leaves the door open for the possibility of descendants of other  male family members after them.

Without knowing for sure whether there is anyone else in the line of succession, my guess is that's why the baronetcy would become dormant instead of just extinct.

I looked through the entry on Burke's 107th edn, it is true, there might be heirs male from those lines, we just don't know for sure.

CORRECTION: the words in brackets in the second para of my post should read " (assuming he was born after his parents' marriage as DPB indicates)"

I have added the Hawkins baronetcy to my list of titles to become dormant on the death of the current baronet

I can confirm I am one of many direct descendants of Arthur Caesar Hawkins. He is my 2nd great grandfather. My great grandfather was Percy Caesar Hawkins. His son (my grandfather) was Oscar Caesar Hawkins. My father (Peter Caesar Hawkins) was one of 4 sons. (Michael, Patrick, David and Peter) Between the 4 sons there were 8 children. They are John, Ian, Sheila (Patrick’s children); Timothy, Christopher and Sharon (David’s children) and myself (Catherine) and my brother Bryan (known by his middle name-Gregory),

Thank you very much.  In another post I had tentatively identified Patrick Caesar Hawkins as being a Patrick Reginald Caesar Hawkins who died 4 February 2006  in the UK but that must be incorrect? In fact a GRO index search states his YOB was 1918 so he was a different generation

My pleasure.
If you need any more details, please reach out. The latest generation are scattered around the globe.. Australia, New Zealand, UK, and South Africa.
Unfortunately the middle name Caesar died with my father’s generation (in Oscar Caesar’s branch of the family tree). I suspect they didn’t realise the historical significance?!
Kind regards, Kate (nee Catherine Louise Hawkins)

Kate,
thank you for adding new for us information.
I have two questions outside your branch of the family but maybe you know something.
Do you have any information about  Arthur Cæsar Hawkins (b. 26 Sep 1857) or Scott Cæsar Hawkins (b. 20 Dec 1861) and their families? They were Percy Cæsar Hawkins' elder brothers.
Did Percy Cæsar Hawkins have other sons?

I can certainly see what I can find.

I do know of Percy’s brother Cyril Caesar Hawkins (who was 15 years his junior). He volunteered in the South African War and sent many letters home from the battlefield. Seven of these (addressed to his mother Louisa Jane (nee Grice) and his sister Edith) are part of the collection of MuseuMAfricA (
