This is becoming a ropey peerage with only new Lord Gurnsey in and a
cousin that has three daus in remainder, of course there is the Earl
of Winchelsea and Nottingham, but he has two earldoms already.

I guess the only hope for the Earldom is the new Lord Guernsey,
unmarried but only 22 (23 in April).

The cousin you mention, marquess, has had the 3 daughters in even
numbered years and would be due to have one this year. Perhaps a male
this time?

I also meant to mention that the Earl's passing marks the 4th
hereditary peer death already in 2008.

The trouble is that even if Lord Guernsey gets married it will
probably have to have four daus before he gets a son, I don't know if
people are prepared to make that kind of effort these days.
