From the Telegraph of 5 Nov 2025: STEER Sarah (née Daniel, also known as Clifford-Wing) died on 2nd October, aged 84, after a short illness. She is survived by close friend, Jan, daughters, Sophia and Isabella, grandsons, Max and Toby and former husband, George. Funeral to be held on 26th November 2025 at 11.30 a.m. in London. For funeral enquiries please contact Mr C. Parker, Leverton & Sons… In lieu of flowers, donations, in Sarah's memory, to Moorfields Eye Charity.

She was d of Maj Nicholas Moore DANIEL MC 1915-94 and his former wife Eleanor Jean ROYLE 1918-2002 (Mrs H V Clifford-Wing). She m 1966 (div _) George Augustine Barton STEER b 1940 s Lt-Col George Lowther STEER 1909-44 and as her 1st h (Barbara) Esme BARTON 1908-88 (Mrs William Kenyon Jones) scion of that Irish gentry family, and had two daughters as above.

Eleanor Jean Royle was the daughter of John Sanderson ROYLE (3 VIII 1887 - 22 VI 1936) and his wife (married 1914, as her first husband), Winifred Blanche WOODSEND (20 XII 1891 - 16 XI 1977). John Royle was himself a son of the Rev Vernon Peter Fanshawe Archer ROYLE (29 I 1854 - 21 V 1929) and his wife (married 8 IV 1885), Eleanor Agnes SANDERSON (2 VI 1862 - 9 I 1920).
 
The Rev Vernon Royle was the son of Dr Peter ROYLE, MD (15 V 1817 - 12 XI 1891) and his wife (married 23 X 1843, Marianna FANSHAWE (1817 - 10 I 1892), of that landed gentry family, formerly of Parsloes, Chadwell Heath, Essex. The Rev Vernon Royle and his wife were also also the parents of Capt Sir Lancelot Carrington ROYLE, KBE (31 V 1898 - 19 VI 1978), whose elder son was Anthony Henry Fanshawe ROYLE, the Life Peer Baron Fanshawe of Richmond, KCMG (27 III 1927 - 28 XII 2001), MP (Conservative) for Richmond, Surrey, 1959-83.
